On 22 June 2022, 20 years after Galeria Emka was opened, a ceremony was held to lay the cornerstone for the construction of the Retail Park (M Park) - a Retail Park that will be a part of the existing shopping centre. The cornerstone act was signed by the president of Koszalin Piotr Jedliński, Group Operations Director LCP Properties Krystian Modrzejewski, parish priest Paweł Wojtalewicz from the Holy Spirit parish, technical director of MIRBUD S.A. Arkadiusz Burczyk and Director of Galeria Emka Jacek Sikorski, Kazimierz Okińczyc, President of the Board of KSM "Przylesie", deputy director of ZD i T Marcin Żełabowski, Filip Kaczkowski, owner of PGOM, representatives of the owner of LCP Properties and main contractor MIRBUD, as well as journalists and photographers. Among the guests present at the ceremony were also James Fife - Supervisory Board Member responsible for LCP Poland.
Beginnings
The first construction plans assumed, that in the place, where now the Emka Gallery stands, a replica of the famous Parisian Eiffel Tower was to be built. However, political turmoil caused that in 1999 the construction plans of Emka Gallery in its current shape were approved. Exactly on 20 June 2002 the doors of the shopping gallery were opened to the inhabitants for the first time.
The facility was created with the citizens and their needs in mind, and has been a part of Koszalin's landscape for two decades now. Galeria Emka means more than 70 shops of Polish and world brands, more than 500 parking places, an exceptional restaurant zone, as well as facilities for the disabled. In 2006, a British investment fund, LCP Properties, became the new owner of the Emka Gallery. A few years later, it decided to modernise the gallery and adapt it to the global standards.
Modernization
In 2017. Emka Gallery was modernized and upgraded. Although the same shape was left on the outside, inside Emka gained a completely new face. The mall has been renovated and adapted to new, high market standards. The systems responsible for safety and comfort of the mall's customers have been modernised. Additional escalators have appeared and the location of the conveyor belts has been changed, making it much easier for the disabled or families with small children to move around. The latest fire protection systems have been installed. The vast majority of premises have been renovated, with emergency exits and additional staircases. Thanks to maximally elevated ceilings, high shop windows and carefully selected lighting, the mall gained more light and individual stores gained elegance. There is also a unique "food on the beach" restaurant zone, whose character refers to the sea nearby. Bright wood, sailing ropes, nautical decorations, industrial lamps and wavy ceiling dominate the interior.
Expansion
In September 2020, thanks to the help and support of the President of the City Piotr Jedliński, as well as the City Council, Galeria Emka obtained the legal permission for the construction, which was postponed to 2021 due to the pandemic. The first works for the construction of M Park began in October 2021, with the backfilling of a trench, which had accompanied the residents of Koszalin for several years. The main contractor became company MIRBUD S.A.
Retail Park (M PARK) - II Phase of EMKA project.
